Trae LaBae

traelabae (b. 1995, Wichita, KS) is a multidisciplinary artist, facilitator, and researcher based in New York City. She holds an M.S. in Applied Social Research from CUNY Hunter College and brings nearly a decade of experience at the intersection of creative expression, social impact, and program development.

LaBae’s work explores themes of resilience, collective care, and liberation through surreal and Afro-Latinx-inspired imagery. Her practice often incorporates magical realism, weaving personal and communal narratives with rituals of self-discovery and transformation. Grounded in cultural history and personal resilience, her work invites communities to envision new possibilities for connection and healing.

LaBae’s socially engaged practice includes facilitating creative writing and zine-making workshops, developing tools for social change, and collaborating with fellow creatives to build collective capacity for anti-capitalist futures. Her projects often blur the boundaries between art and social practice, using creative expression as a catalyst for liberation.
